Join in the celebration as Putnam County Land Trust marks 44 years of preserving open space and protecting sensitive habitats in Putnam County- right in your big backyard. Enjoy live music by Bruce Eisenstein, a sumptuously wonderful buffet dinner, their famous silent auction of eclectic items and an exciting Live Auction led by Ivan and Laura Cohen. Adding to the celebratory occasion will be some of the Birds of Prey from Green Chimneys, and the rarely displayed Paul Fitchen collection of butterflies native to this area, some of which are now extinct.
The proceeds from the event will benefit the preserves and programs of Putnam County Land Trust. Speaking about the upcoming dinner, Land Trust President Judy Terlizzi said, “The dinner is our flagship fund raiser and information event. Longtime supporters get together to celebrate the land trust’s accomplishments, and new people that are interested in our work get to see what we are about and meet others in the community that care about land preservation. The PCLT dinner is a fun evening, open to everyone, where those who value the importance of the natural environment come together to support open space preservation. ”
This past year, the land trust added three new preserves. “In addition to providing more hiking, snowshoeing, birdwatching, and other passive recreation activities for Putnam residents,” Judy continued, “these preserves also help ensure we have clean water, habitats to support wildlife, and maintain our rural landscape.”
In addition to attending the dinner, the Land Trust is asking businesses and individuals to donate unique goods or services for the auction, or advertise in the dinner journal. Donations are publicly announced in the dinner journal that is provided to every dinner attendee, as well as on the PCLT website and in their newsletter.
The event will be held at the Starr Ridge Banquet and Conference Center at 38 Starr Ridge Road in Brewster on Saturday, April 13th, 2013 at 5:30pm. Seating is limited and reservations are required.
