Putnam County Land Trust was awarded a $7500 grant as part of a public-private partnership aimed at boosting local land conservation efforts in New York State. The award was announced as part of a press conference held at Mohonk Gatehouse in New Paltz, New York on April 25th.The New York State Conservation Partnership Program is a partnership between NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and the Land Trust Alliance in which $1.4 million was awarded to 57 non-profit land trusts across New York State. PCLT applied for funds to cover the transaction costs associated with the donation of property in Patterson to the land trust. Now known as the Burdick Preserve, the 94 acres at the southeast intersection of Ice Pond Rd and Bullet Hole Rd is the land trust’s 29th preserve. It was donated by Bob and Beth Mancini of Bedford.
PCLT will contribute an additional $2500 as a match which comes from member contributions and PCLT fund raising events. “Without this public support, PCLT would not be able to take advantage of this important grant program,” said Judy Terlizzi, PCLT Board President.
