PCLT board member John Vangor will lead a program on Saturday May 11th called Birds, Blooms & Bark. The program will take place at PCLT’s Ice Pond Preserve at 9am.
This is the ideal time for viewing migratory birds so come along to learn more about them, to learn more about the early spring ephemerals and other plants that are now in bloom and more about the different forms that tree bark take.
John Vangor is a retired chemistry teacher and science department representative from the Yonkers Public Schools. While in Yonkers, he coached Cross-country, Tennis, Track & Field and Swimming. After 30 years in Yonkers, he taught chemistry and AP Environmental Science at Kennedy Catholic HS in Somers. John and his wife are active hikers covering trails from the Hudson Valley to the Adirondack High Peaks region. They share an interest in studying and identifying rare plants, birds and butterflies. John is also a member of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department, serving as an EMT and a member of the Putnam County HazMat response team.
