The Putnam County Land Trust is sponsoring a program on the Amazing World of Mosses on Sunday, October 6th 2013.
If you have ever wanted to know more about that beautiful, soft, natural green carpet on the forest floor, this is the program for you! Join Dr. William Buck of the New York Botanical Gardens as he guides us through. Dr. Buck is a bryologist (moss expert) whose work carries him around the world. We will learn more about mosses in general – the kinds of characteristics to look for when examining a moss, the natural history of moss and, its place in the environment. In addition to the various mosses, any fall wildflowers we find as we walk through the woods will be identified and discussed.
There is no fee for this program. However, the group size is limited and registration is required. Preference will be given to PCLT members and volunteers but there may be additional openings for others. Call for exact time and place. Call Judy Terlizzi at (914 621 8466) or email judi@pclt.net for more information and to register.
