The Adirondacks? Three hours away. The Catskills? Two hours. Harriman State Park? One hour. Top Hill Preserve? In Your Big Backyard!
Come Discover Top Hill Preserve THIS WEEKEND. Join us on October 10th & 11th anytime between 9am to 3pm at the Top Hill Preserve in Carmel for trail walks and birding. A kiosk table will be set up with trail maps and other PCLT info, and our Preserve Steward will be on-site to answer questions about the property.
This is an easy trail, but if you prefer to go with a guide, guided walks will be held each day at 11am.
Donated to PCLT in 1974 by Luther Baumgartner as part of a subdivision, these 19.3 acres of rocky, wooded hilltop support a variety of plant communities, including fern glens, mosses, and low-bush blueberry, as well as a variety of oaks and other mature trees.
Members and non-members welcome! This is the perfect time of year to get out and see the Fall foliage and beauty of Putnam County. Bring some friends and see you there!
Directions: From Rt. 6 in Carmel, turn onto Stoneleigh Ave. Travel 1.7 miles and make right onto Drewville Rd. After 1.2 miles make left onto Cherry Hill Rd. Go 0.8 mile and make right onto Columbus. Continue 0.3 mile and make right onto Bucyrus Ave. Look for the preserve sign on the right at end of the cul-de-sac. If you are using a GPS, use 32 Bucyrus Ave., Carmel, NY.
