Celebrating 1000 Acres, 45 Years, 5 Emeritus Trustees & Stewardship

The Putnam County Land Trust invites anyone interested in land preservation in Putnam County to join them at their 45th Anniversary Annual Benefit Dinner and Auction on April 5th.

With a number of recent acquisitions in the past few months, PCLT now protects over 1000 acres in Putnam.  PCLT President Judy Terlizzi said, “We are so thrilled to reach a milestone of 1000 acres preserved.  This year’s dinner will be a celebration of that milestone, and a celebration of all who made it possible – our members, volunteers, donors and supporters.”

Music will be provided by John Varrallo, followed by a gourmet buffet dinner and a live auction run by Ivan and Laura Cohen of the Cohen Putnam Agency in Carmel.  Linda Lund, who is both the event organizer and a PCLT trustee, says, “PCLT’s dinner and auction event is a lot of fun with music, socializing and great food.  And it’s for such a great cause.  This event is for anyone that is interested in, and wants to support, land preservation in our county.”

This year, the land trust will also be honoring a number of individuals.  Patterson resident David Chau will be recognized with PCLT’s Stewardship Award for his work on the land trust’s Ice Pond Preserve.  Regarding his nomination, David commented, “I was thoroughly surprised, and very pleased to have been selected. All the PCLT stewards are individually noteworthy.  To be selected is an honor.”

PCLT will also be honoring five past board members as Emeritus Trustees.  The 2014 emeritus inductees are Dr. William Buck, Denis Castelli, Nicholas Chapis, Robert Maddock and Sal Tripi.  PCLT Vice President Michael Cunningham explains, “Each of these former trustees have contributed to the land trust’s success in such large, meaningful and lasting ways.  We hope this honor will let them know how grateful we are to them.”

The event will be held at the Starr Ridge Banquet and Conference Center at 38 Starr Ridge Road in Brewster on Saturday, April 5th, 2014 at 5:30pm.  Seating is limited and reservations are required. The event is BYOB.  Take advantage of special dinner pricing of $60 per person if paid by March 26th.  To make a reservation, inquire about advertising space or donate goods or services for the auction, call 845/278-2808 or visit the PCLT website at www.pclt.net.
