Putnam County Land Trust’s Breakfast with the Birds, a bird watching and breakfast
event returns this year on Saturday, May 11 th in the Ice Pond Basin on World Migratory
Bird Day
For thousands of years, birds have migrated through the Ice Pond Basin which is part
of the Great Swamp which extends from Brewster, through Patterson and into
Dutchess County.
The Bird Walk gets underway at 7:30 a.m. Noted naturalist, Jim Nordgren will lead
this walk and help participants spot and identify the migrating and resident birds.
Coffee will be available prior to the walk. A complimentary breakfast including quiche
will be available when the walk ends.
“This is a great opportunity for caregivers and children to enjoy the beauty of spring
together out in the natural world,” said PCLT President Judy Terlizzi. “We look forward
to sharing this rich and stunning aspect of nature with them.”
The birding expedition and breakfast are free, but BYOB (Bring Your Own Binoculars).
Reservations are required. There is no fee for this event. Directions will be provided
